PROMPT LAB

Write the prompt before you ask the question.

Describe your project, then let a free AI polish your prompt into something clear and ready to paste into Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini.

Prompt generator

Fill in what you know. The preview updates as you type. When you're ready, polish it with AI.

Your experience level
Requirements

Polish with AI sends your prompt text to Pollinations.ai, a free third-party AI service. Everything else stays in your browser. Don't include passwords or personal details.

Before and after

Same idea. The second prompt gives the AI something to work with.

Vague prompt

Make me a to-do app.

No language, no features, no level, no format. The AI has to guess everything, and you won't know why it chose what it did.

Structured prompt

Goal: Build a to-do list web page.
Experience: Beginner. Use simple words.
Requirements: Add, complete, and delete tasks. Keyboard friendly.
Constraints: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript only. One file.
Output: Full code with comments, then explain each part.

Clear goal, clear limits, and a request to explain. You get code you can read, test, and change.

How to write better prompts

Six habits that improve almost every answer you get.

State one clear goal

Say what the finished thing does. "A page where visitors can filter a list" beats "a cool website".

Give context

Mention your experience level, what you've tried, and where you're stuck so the answer fits you.

List requirements and limits

Name the language, the features you need, and what to avoid, such as libraries or frameworks.

Ask for the output you want

Request full code, a plan, or a tutorial. Say whether you want comments in the code.

Ask for an explanation

End with "explain what each part does". If you can't explain it, you don't own it yet.

Test, then follow up

Run the code. If something breaks, paste the exact error message and ask what it means.
